glass vitrines, collection of self-made and found objects, glass, bronze, paper, plaster, wax
La meraviglia is a collection of wondrous things I created, each representing a certain aspect of life. I am interested in strangeness, and the fact that the familiar is a matter of perception and concentration. Taking things out of their context and purpose, like exotica in the early Wunderkammern, and using the visual gravity of matter can create a moment of surprise and trigger curiosity and deeper interest in our unique being, For me this is the strongest quality of art.
“Curiosity evokes the care for what exists and could exist; a readiness to find strange and singular what surrounds us; a certain relentlessness to break up our familiarities and to regard otherwise the same thing.” Michel Foucault, The Masked Philosopher
